Siemens Hearing Aids

Werner von Siemens, was a manufacturer of telegraphic instruments more than 150 years ago, but his desire to address hearing challenges by developing an amplified telephone receiver in 1877 made him a pioneer in the hearing aid industry.

Siemens produced the first BTE (behind-the-ear) instrument in 1959, and then the first (ITE) in-the-ear hearing aid in 1966.

In 2015, Siemens became Sivantos, producing Signia hearing aids using Siemens’ technology even as the company continued to release their own Siemens brand hearing aids. As a part of the Sivantos Group, Siemens became a part of the WS Audiology group in 2019, making Siemens a part of the world’s largest hearing aid manufacturing consortium.

Advanced Hearing Solutions from Siemens

A leading Siemens innovation is the capacity to simulate binaural hearing with the Binax platform involving the use of an eight-microphone network (four per hearing aid) that connects the devices wirelessly using e2e technology in order to share and balance incoming sound signals.

Additional Binax platform features to help improve the quality and clarity of the hearing experience include Narrow Directionality, Spatial Speech Focus, eWindScreen binaural, and High-Definition Sound Resolution.

As the subject of testing by the University of Northern Colorado and the Hearing Center of the University of Oldenburg, Siemens’ Binax technology demonstrated the capacity to produce a level of sound clarity that provide wearers an advantage over those with normal hearing in a noisy environment.
