ReSound’s smart hearing aid technology has always been a firm favorite of ours here at Aim Hearing & Audiology. This innovative brand is a world leader at building hearing solutions that make it easier and more comfortable than ever before to access personalized sound.
Many of our patients who have recently upgraded to the Resound LiNX Quattro hearing aids have done so for their advanced full spectrum of direct streaming. This advanced technological feature allows wearers to listen to their favorite music and make and receive calls using their hearing aids, without the use of an additional accessory, such as a Telecoil. This feature has made their lives a little less challenging.
But unfortunately for some, this advanced Bluetooth streaming feature has not been available for Android devices, meaning they’ve either been missing out or had to consider switching to an Apple iOS device. But that has now all changed.
ReSound released an update to the ReSound Smart 3D app at the end of February meaning LiNX Quattro hearing aid wearers who use a compatible Android smartphone can now enjoy all of the above-mentioned streaming features.
Streaming for calls and music can be accessed by downloading the latest Resound Smart 3D app and following the instructions on the screen.
Wanting to Know if Your Android Devices Can Connect to Your ReSound LiNX Quattro Hearing Aids?
- Go to the Google Play store from your Android device. In the “Search” field enter “ReSound Smart 3D” and download the ReSound Smart 3D app.
- Once the download has completed, open the app and tap “Get Started.”
- Follow the instructions to connect your hearing devices to your cell phone/tablet.You will then be presented with one of three screens.
#1 – Connected
If your screen looks like the image shown below, then the good news is that both your Android device and hearing technology are compatible, and your hearing aids have been automatically paired.
#2 – Settings Update
If you are presented with red warning icons as pictured below your Android device is not paired correctly.
In this instance, you simply need to tap the “Direct Audio Streaming” option and the app will take you through instructions to pair correctly.
#3 – Not Compatible
Only some Android phones using the Android 10 operating system will be able to stream.
If you receive two warning badges on “Direct Audio Streaming” and “My ReSound” – then your hearing technology is not compatible with your device.
Contact your carrier for further guidance, who can tell you if your model will get the updated operating system, or if you’ll have to upgrade your device.
All of the newest Android phones will launch with the Android 10 operating system, so it’s only the older devices that won’t be able to access it. If you’re an existing user please read our guide on troubleshooting problems with the resound smart/smart 3d app.
