At Aim Hearing, we believe that the heart of Greensboro beats strongest when we support one another. That’s why, for many years, we’ve proudly championed our Love Local initiative, shining a spotlight on the incredible small businesses that make our community unique.

Shopping local isn’t just about convenience; it’s about investing in our neighbors, enriching our city, and building lasting relationships with the people who care most about Greensboro’s future.

We’re excited to introduce your winning businesses that have gone above and beyond to serve our community with passion, creativity, and dedication. As always, our team visited each business in person to deliver our certificate of excellence and a tin of David’s Cookies butter pecan meltaways!

Guilford Garden Center

From a single storefront in 1963 into a premier two-location destination for local gardeners, Guilford Garden Center has been a beloved fixture of the Greensboro community for decades.

Cathy recommends them wholeheartedly for their “very helpful” staff, and she’s glad to see they have new additions to the team to continue this garden center’s impressive legacy!

You and fellow community members cherish the center not just for its healthy native plants and unique pottery, but also for the personalized expertise of a staff that truly understands the North Carolina climate.

The atmosphere is famously welcoming, often punctuated by a greeting from the resident shop cats, who have become local icons in their own right!

Doss’ Old Fashion Ice Cream and Grill

Doss’ Old Fashion Ice Cream and Grill is a nostalgic landmark, well-loved for its 1950s aesthetic and whimsical collection of clown memorabilia. You picked Doss’ as the perfect destination for anyone looking to pair a delicious, affordable meal with a charming trip down memory lane!

This family-owned gem serves up 32 flavors of rich, hand-scooped ice cream alongside classic grill staples like their legendary foot-long hot dogs. Whether you’re craving a scoop of banana pudding ice cream or a hearty chicken Philly, the friendly Southern hospitality makes every guest feel like a local.

Savage Roasters

Christine says it best about Savage Roasters: “Not only is it a delightful atmosphere providing a variety of coffees, teas, frappes, and smoothies, but the business and staff conduct all types of community service events as fundraisers as well as [serve as] a collection point for products for local nonprofit organizations.”

This veteran- and family-owned coffee shop prides itself on ethically sourced and high-quality coffee, as well as helping the community with their admirable “lead by example” mentality.

Scuppernong Books

Geoff’s a big fan of Scuppernong Books, impressed with how they’re “independently owned [and] sponsors community book readings and activities.”

The shop radiates a "living room" atmosphere, where the smell of organic coffee and local greenery invites visitors to settle into cozy nooks for hours of reading or conversation. Far more than just a retail outlet, it serves as a community hub that fuels the local creative scene through the Greensboro Bound literary festival and its own independent press.

Northern Roots Coffeehouse

Alison’s a big fan of Northern Roots and their “wonderful, creative coffee!”

Their menu highlights craft coffee culture through sophisticated specialty drinks, such as the house-made bourbon vanilla latte and creative seasonal coffee flights.

By pairing these unique flavors with a community-focused mission, the shop has quickly become a standout destination for both locals and travelers seeking a modern caffeine fix.

Many people enthuse about their bright, minimalist escape, featuring light wood accents and a signature mossy window seat that provides a serene backdrop for work or relaxation.

Loving Local Businesses in The Triad and Beyond

As we celebrate this year’s Love Local winners, let’s remember that every dollar spent at a local business is a vote for a stronger, more vibrant Greensboro.

By choosing to shop local, you’re not only supporting the dreams of small business owners, but also helping our entire community thrive.

We encourage you to visit these outstanding local businesses and experience firsthand the difference they make. And when it comes to your hearing health, trust in our team at Aim Hearing: your independent, local hearing healthcare provider that always puts you first.

Together, let’s continue to Love Local and keep Greensboro growing!
