Courtney was born and raised in Asheboro, NC. She attended UNCG for her undergraduate degree in speech pathology and audiology before continuing her education at East Carolina University for her doctorate in audiology. In May 2025, Courtney graduated after completing her externship at UNC Hospitals.
Courtney experienced the world of hearing loss long before studying audiology in college. She grew up with hearing loss and had other family members with hearing loss as well. Courtney decided working within hearing care was a good career choice for her, as she loves learning about hearing technology, the ongoing research within the field, and best practices.
She shares that she always had a strong desire to work with others in circumstances similar to hers. Now, as an audiologist, Courtney believes she has a unique perspective as someone who once wore hearing aids as an older child and now has cochlear implants.
Having the opportunity to apply the skills she learned and getting to know the patients at Aim Hearing are highlights of Courtney’s work. On a broader scale, she likes how the audiology field is constantly expanding and evolving – there’s still so much for hearing professionals to learn!
Reflecting on her first week at Aim Hearing, Courtney says the team and patients were very welcoming. She knew she was in the right place when she lost count of how many patients praised the office and told her what a great practice she was at.
Courtney is a bilateral cochlear implant wearer; she wears two Med-El cochlear implants. Her second side was implanted in December 2024, 4.5 years after her first implant was activated over the Christmas period – something she considers an amazing gift, indeed!
In April 2025, Courtney married her middle school/high school sweetheart. When she’s not working, Courtney loves spending time with her husband, family, friends, and their cat, Kitty. She also enjoys true crime podcasts and watching horror movies.
